DeKalb County Tree Ordinance

 

Dekalb County requires that recompense be paid for the removal of specimen trees.  For this reason, we strongly recommend that potential specimen trees be fully analyzed in conjunction with a design team.



Specimen tree Definition:

  1. •Large Hardwoods 30” DBH

  2. •Large Softwoods 30” DBH

  3. •Small native flowering 12”

  4. •Life expectancy more than 15 yrs.

  5. •Meets minimum condition criteria


Land Disturbance Requirements:

  1. 1.Locations of Specimen Trees

  2. 2.Prepared by ISA Certified Arborist, Registered Landscape Architect, or Registered Forester

  3. 3.Retain at least 50% of all Specimen Trees
